It's Not Dead.
This project started as an unapproved concept for the amazing band Linkin Park. I was approached by Warner Music to create a visual idea for the song "HEAVY." Unfortunately, the band chose to pursue a different direction. Every year I try to create a personal project, to try out new techniques and learn something along the way. Since I was too attached to the visual I created with my friend Rodrigo Miguel, I decided not to kill the idea, but recycle it and turn my year's personal project into a good cause. I know a lot of really close people/family who suffer from depression and anxiety. In the past, I had some bad experiences on that road as well. You don't need to be an expert to realize that anxiety disorders and depression have become huge problems in our society. I decided to approach the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, an association that I truly respect, to see if they would like to share the video.
Founded in 1979, The Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) is an international nonprofit organization and a leader in education, training, and research for anxiety, OCD, PTSD, depression, and related disorders. I was blessed to have the opportunity to develop this call of action animated piece.
On the day that I hit the final render button and watched the full piece for the very first time, I got the news that Chester Bennington (Linkin Park's lead singer) passed away. Like many others, Chester was in a constant battle against depression. This piece goes out to him and many others.
I decided to create this video as a call for action. Hope it will bring curiosity and access to people who seek for help or knows someone who needs it.
